Adding to the study cited below, it's important to note that these aren't specifically basketball (or football) players that are boosting the application rate. Those folks rarely face the same application process as the rest of us. These -- the incremental applicants -- will only be associated with a winner.
Or more important, an institution they perceive to be a winner.
